StAnD uP
By Paul Hufker

Directed By John Lampe

SUMMARY:

Maddie, a NYC stand up comic goes viral (happy days!) and promptly gets cancelled (ain’t algorithms a bitch?). As she tries to reconstruct her reputation and career, another young, budding comic herself goes viral and offers to help Maddie with her cancellation. When Maddie gives the young comic all her comedic knowledge, the young comic inputs that knowledge into an AI which spits out great jokes. Will Maddie be replaced by her young counterpart? Will AI help humans take over the identity of other humans? Can something as fundamentally human as comedy be usurped by AI? YouTube, MSNBC and Fox News are all lampooned and put under a microscope in this satirical, dark, comedic look at many important facets of our modern moment.
